    THE PROJECT “ULTRASOUND MATCHING LAYERS REPLACING PROCEDURES USING ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPY” (IN SHORT UMLAF) AIMS TO INTRODUCE AN INNOVATION IN THE PROCESS OF REPAIRING THE SECOND ULTRASOUND OF LOGIC SRL. THE “MATCHING LAYER”, OR MATING LAYERS IN ITALIAN, ARE THE THICKNESSES THAT SEPARATE THE TWO FUNDAMENTAL COMPONENTS OF AN ULTRASOUND PROBE: CRYSTAL ARRAYS AND ACOUSTIC LENS. THANKS TO THE CLOSE COOPERATION WITH APE RESEARCH, WHICH HAS EXPERTISE AND EXPERTISE IN THE FIELD, THE ANALYSIS OF THE COMPOSITION OF THE COMPONENTS AND THE THICKNESSES OF THE “MATCHING LAYERS” WILL BE CARRIED OUT, FOLLOWING THEORETICAL IN-DEPTH STUDY AND SELECTION OF THE ULTRASOUND PROBES SUITABLE FOR THE PROJECT, USING TWO ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES SUCH AS RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY AND AFM MICROSCOPY. ON THE BASIS OF THE INFORMATION COLLECTED, NEW TECHNICAL PROCEDURES FOR THE REPAIR OF “MATCHING LAYERS” WILL BE TESTED AND FINALLY FORMALISED, WHICH AT THE MOMENT LOGIC PERFORMS IN A NON-PR WAY.
