    EL OBJETIVO DEL PROYECTO SE CENTRA EN EL ESTUDIO DE LA ELIMINACION DE CONTAMINANTES EMERGENTES EN AGUA MEDIANTE FOTOCATALISIS EMPLEANDO RADIACION SOLAR CON FOTOCATALIZADORES BASADOS EN HETEROESTRUCTURAS DE TIO2 Y MATERIALES DE CARBONO, UTILIZANDO LIGNINA COMO PRECURSOR DE LOS MISMOS. ESTA PROPUESTA SE ENCUADRA DENTRO DE LAS ACCIONES RELACIONADAS CON LA UTILIZACION DE RECURSOS Y MATERIAS PRIMAS IDENTIFICADAS EN LA ESTRATEGIA ESPAÑOLA DE CIENCIA Y TECNOLOGIA Y DE INNOVACION, DENTRO DE LOS GRANDES RETOS DE LA SOCIEDAD. LOS CONTAMINANTES EMERGENTES CONSTITUYEN UN GRUPO DE ESPECIAL ATENCION, DEBIDO A SU PELIGROSIDAD Y UBICUIDAD EN AGUAS RESIDUALES URBANAS E INDUSTRIALES. SU CARACTER RECALCITRANTE IMPIDE SU ELIMINACION EFICAZ MEDIANTE LOS SISTEMAS DE TRATAMIENTO CONVENCIONALES, LO QUE DETERMINA UN EFECTO ACUMULATIVO SOBRE LOS SISTEMAS ACUATICOS NATURALES. LA FOTOCATALISIS CON RADIACION SOLAR PRESENTA UNA OPCION INTERESANTE DE INVESTIGAR PARA LA DEGRADACION DE ESTOS CONTAMINANTES, YA QUE OFRECE LA POSIBILIDAD DE UTILIZAR UNA FUENTE DE ENERGIA NATURAL AMBIENTALMENTE SOSTENIBLE. SIN EMBARGO, EL DESARROLLO DE ESTA TECNOLOGIA REQUIERE DE CATALIZADORES CAPACES DE APROVECHAR DE FORMA EFICIENTE LA CONTRIBUCION VISIBLE DE LA LUZ SOLAR (ADEMAS DE LA UV COMUNMENTE UTILIZADA) PARA PROMOVER LA OXIDACION DE LOS CONTAMINANTES. ENTRE LAS ALTERNATIVAS PARA MEJORAR LA EFICIENCIA BAJO LUZ SOLAR DE LOS FOTOCATALIZADORES YA CONOCIDOS, EL PROYECTO PRETENDE INVESTIGAR LA SINTESIS DE HETEROESTRUCTURAS TIPO SEMICONDUCTOR-CARBON QUE PUEDEN PREPARARSE EN CONDICIONES ECONOMICAS ACEPTABLES Y PRESENTEN UN COMPORTAMIENTO EFICAZ EN TERMINOS DE ACTIVIDAD Y ESTABILIDAD. PARA ELLO, EN EL PRESENTE PROYECTO SE ESTUDIARA EL EMPLEO DE LIGNINA COMO PRECURSOR DE LOS MATERIALES DE CARBONO A EMPLEAR EN LA SINTESIS DE LOS FOTOCATALIZADORES. ESTA PROPUESTA INCORPORA, POR TANTO, UNA VIA DE VALORIZACION DE LA LIGNINA, GENERADA COMO RESIDUO EN ALTAS CANTIDADES EN LA PRODUCCION INDUSTRIAL DE PASTAS CELULOSICAS Y PARA LA QUE SE ESPERA UN IMPORTANTE CRECIMIENTO EN EL FUTURO ASOCIADO AL DESARROLLO DE LA BIOREFINERIA A PARTIR DE MATERIAS PRIMAS LIGNOCELULOSICAS._x000D_ _x000D_ EL PROYECTO PLANTEA LA PREPARACION DE DOS SERIES DE FOTOCATALIZADORES UTILIZANDO LIGNINA COMO PRECURSOR: I) BASADOS EN SISTEMAS TIO2-NANOESFERAS DE CARBONO, Y II) TIPO TIO2-CARBON ACTIVO Y TIO2 POROSO. SE LLEVARA A CABO LA CARACTERIZACION EXHAUSTIVA DE LOS CATALIZADORES SINTETIZADOS, PARA CONOCER SUS PROPIEDADES POTENCIALMENTE ASOCIADAS A LA ACTIVIDAD, COMO ESTRUCTURA POROSA, ESTRUCTURA CRISTALINA, QUIMICA SUPERFICIAL, COMPORTAMIENTO FOTOQUIMICO Y MORFOLOGIA, ENTRE OTRAS. EL COMPORTAMIENTO FOTOCATALITICO DE LAS HETEROESTRUCTURAS PREPARADAS SE EVALUARA EN LA DEGRADACION DE CONTAMINANTES EMERGENTES (FARMACOS Y PESTICIDAS) BAJO RADIACION SOLAR, ANALIZANDO LA RUTA DE DEGRADACION Y EL MECANISMO DE REACCION. EL TRABAJO SE LLEVARA A CABO POR UN EQUIPO MULTIDISCIPLINAR CONSTITUIDO POR INVESTIGADORES CON EXPERIENCIA EN LA SINTESIS Y CARACTERIZACION DE MATERIALES AVANZADOS, Y EN PROCESOS AVANZADOS DE OXIDACION PARA TRATAMIENTO DE AGUAS. EMERGING POLLUTANTS CONSTITUTE A SPECIAL ATTENTION GROUP, DUE TO THEIR DANGEROUSNESS AND UBIQUITY IN URBAN AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE WATER. ITS RECALCITRANT CHARACTER PREVENTS ITS EFFECTIVE ELIMINATION BY CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT SYSTEMS, WHICH DETERMINES A CUMULATIVE EFFECT ON NATURAL WATER SYSTEMS. PHOTOCATALYSIS WITH SOLAR RADIATION PRESENTS AN INTERESTING OPTION TO INVESTIGATE FOR THE DEGRADATION OF THESE POLLUTANTS, SINCE IT OFFERS THE POSSIBILITY OF USING AN ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE NATURAL ENERGY SOURCE. HOWEVER, THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS TECHNOLOGY REQUIRES CATALYSTS CAPABLE OF EFFICIENTLY EXPLOITING THE VISIBLE CONTRIBUTION OF SUNLIGHT (IN ADDITION TO THE COMMONLY USED UV) TO PROMOTE THE OXIDATION OF CONTAMINANTS. AMONG THE ALTERNATIVES TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY UNDER SUNLIGHT OF THE ALREADY KNOWN PHOTOCATALYSTS, THE PROJECT AIMS TO INVESTIGATE THE SYNTHESIS OF SEMICONDUCTOR-CARBON-TYPE HETEROSTRUCTURES THAT CAN BE PREPARED UNDER ACCEPTABLE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS AND PRESENT AN EFFECTIVE BEHAVIOR IN TERMS OF ACTIVITY AND STABILITY. FOR THIS PURPOSE, THIS PROJECT WILL STUDY THE USE OF LIGNIN AS A PRECURSOR OF CARBON MATERIALS TO BE USED IN THE SYNTHESIS OF PHOTOCATALYSTS. This INCORPORE PROPOSE, BY A VIA DEVALORISATION OF LIGNINA, GENERATE AS WANT IN HIGH QUANTITIES IN THE INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION OF Cellulosic PASTS AND FOR THAT A IMPORTANT CRECIENT IN THE FUTURE ASOCIATED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BIOREFINERY TO PART OF MATERIAS LIGNOCELULOSIC PRIMAS._x000D_ _x000D_ THE PROJECT PLANT THE PREPARATION OF TWO SERIES OF Photocatalystisers Utilising LIGNINE AS PRECURSER: I) BASED ON TIO2-NANOSPHERES CARBON SYSTEMS, AND II) TYPE TIO2-CARBON ACTIVE AND TIO2 POROUS. THE EXHAUSTIVE CHARACTERISATION OF THE SYNTHESISED CATALYSTS WILL BE CARRIED OUT TO KNOW THEIR POTENTIALLY ASSOCIATED PROPERTIES OF THE ACTIVITY, SUCH AS POROUS STRUCTURE, CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURE, SUPERFICIAL CHEMISTRY, PHOTOQUIMIC BEHAVIOR AND MORPHOLOGY, AMONG OTHERS. THE PHOTOCATALITIC BEHAVIOR OF THE PREPARED HETEROSTRUCTURES WILL BE EVALUATED IN THE DEGRADATION OF EMERGING CONTAMINANTS (PHARMACEUTICALS AND PESTICIDES) UNDER SOLAR RADIATION, ANALYSING THE PATH OF DEGRADATION AND THE MECHANISM OF REACTION. THE WORK WILL BE CARRIED OUT BY A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM MADE UP OF RESEARCHERS WITH EXPERIENCE IN THE SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISATION OF ADVANCED MATERIALS, AND IN ADVANCED OXIDATION PROCESSES FOR WATER TREATMENT.
