Projektets aktiviteter innebär att genomföra de uppgifter som krävs för att förvalta det operativa programmet för Norra Mellansverige. Det tekniska stödet ska leda till att programmet genomförs ändamålsenligt, rättssäkert och effektivt samt bidrar till att programmets mål nås inom övriga insatsområden. Enligt de operativa programmen ska tekniskt stöd för förvaltande myndighet medfinansiera kostnader för förberedelse, förvaltning, kontroller, utvärdering, informationsinsatser, seminarier, datasystem och utvärderingar.
