El objeto del convenio de Escuelas Conectadas es contribuir a dotar de conectividad a Internet mediante redes de banda ancha ultrarrápida a los centros docentes no universitarios sostenidos con fondos públicos, realizando acciones coordinadas con el fin último de impulsar el emprendimiento de base tecnológica y los procesos de innovación abierta en todo el territorio nacional. Estas acciones se traducen en un plan para que todos estos centros tengan una conectividad de mejor calidad, buscando sinergias con redes existentes, en particular RedIRIS, red académica y de investigación española cuya función esencial es proporcionar servicios de conectividad a las universidades y centros de I+D+i, para que, a través de ella, los centros docentes disfruten de acceso a servicios avanzados de comunicaciones con los adecuados niveles de seguridad, capacidad y disponibilidad. Para ello se realizarán las inversiones en las infraestructuras necesarias, complementando las iniciativas de las CC.AA. en esta misma línea, prestando especial atención a los centros que por razón de su ubicación o de su carácter rural presentan mayores dificultades para disponer de las infraestructuras que permitan acceder a los nuevos servicios de banda ancha ultrarrápida. The purpose of the Connected Schools Convention is to contribute to the provision of Internet connectivity through ultra-fast broadband networks to non-university educational institutions supported by public funds, coordinated actions with the ultimate goal of boosting technology-based entrepreneurship and Innovation throughout the national territory. These actions translate into a plan for all these centers to have better quality connectivity, seeking synergies with existing networks, in particular RedIRIS, a Spanish academic and research network whose essential function is to provide connectivity services to universities and research centers, so that, through it, the educational centers enjoy access to advanced communication services with adequate levels of security, capacity and availability. To this end, investments will be made in the necessary infrastructures, complementing the initiatives of the Autonomous Communities in this same line, paying special attention to the centers that, due to their location or their rural character, present greater difficulties to dispose of the infrastructures Enabling access to the new ultra-fast broadband services.
