WITHOUT AN ADEQUATE READING TRAINING, ITS CITIZENS WILL HARDLY BE FREE AND CRITICAL, AND THEY CAN HARDLY BE FAIR, OPEN AND REFLECTIVE._x000D_ IN THIS INTELLECTUAL FRAMEWORK AND FROM A HISTORICAL-CULTURAL AND COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE, THE CENTRAL THEORETICAL ISSUE OF THIS RESEARCH PROJECT REFERS SPECIFICALLY TO READING AS A SCHOOL EXPERIENCE, THAT IS, TO HOW TO TEACH AND LEARN TO READ AND, CONSEQUENTLY, TO HOW THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TEXTS IS CONFIGURED IN THE SCHOOL CULTURE. IN THIS PERFORMATIVE RELATIONSHIP, THE ATTITUDE TOWARDS BOOKS AND THEIR READING IS FORGED, TO A LARGE EXTENT AND PERHAPS PERMANENTLY._x000D_ FROM THIS PERSPECTIVE, THIS PROJECT AIMS TO STUDY THE PEDAGOGICAL CONVERSION, THAT IS, THE PRESENTATION, REPRESENTATION AND FUNCTIONALITY OF LITERARY TEXTS IN SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS, IN ORDER TO ASSESS THEIR IMPACT ON THE READING EXPERIENCE OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS. TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL, THIS PROJECT FOCUSES ON THE STUDY OF THE PRESENCE AND TREATMENT OF CONTEMPORARY POETRY IN THE SPANISH SCHOOL CULTURE OF THE TWENTIETH AND TWENTY-FIRST CENTURIES, FROM PEDAGOGICAL, HISTORICAL AND COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE. IT FIXES ITS ATTENTION ON THE THREE LITERARY GENERATIONS THAT TAKE PLACE IN THE SO-CALLED "SILVER AGE" OF SPANISH CULTURE: THE GENERATION OF 1914 AND THE GENERATION OF 27, AND, MORE SPECIFICALLY, IN THREE OF ITS MAJOR AUTHORS: ANTONIO MACHADO, JUAN RAMON JIMENEZ AND FEDERICO GARCIA LORCA._x000D_ IN SHORT, THIS PROJECT TRIES TO ANALYSE THE READINGS THAT HAVE BEEN THE SUBJECT OF THE POETIC WORKS OF THESE THREE ANDALUSIAN POETS IN THE VARIOUS STAGES OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM, FROM PRIMARY EDUCATION TO POST-COMPULSORY SECONDARY SCHOOL, THROUGHOUT THAT PERIOD HISTORICAL PERIOD , MAINLY, THOUGH NOT ONLY, THROUGH THE SYSTEMATIC ETHNOHISTORICAL STUDY OF VARIOUS ELEMENTS OF THE MATERIAL CULTURE OF THE SCHOOL (BOOKS, NOTEBOOKS AND OTHER SCHOOL DOCUMENTS)._x000D_ UNDOUBTEDLY, THE FIRST READING EXPERIENCES, THE ONLY ONES FOR MANY, TAKE PLACE AT SCHOOL, RATHER THAN WITH COMPLETE BOOKS OF LITERATURE, WITH TEXTBOOKS IN WHICH THE SELECTED TEXTS OF THE WORKS APPEAR FRAGMENTARILY, ACCOMPANIED OR NOT BY ICONOGRAPHY AND OTHER PARATEXTUAL ELEMENTS. . HENCE THE IMPORTANCE AND INTEREST OF INVESTIGATING THE TREATMENT AND SCHOOL REPRESENTATION OF WHICH THE MOST RELEVANT AUTHORS AND WORKS OF SPANISH LITERATURE HAVE BEEN SUBJECT IN BOOKS AND OTHER TYPICALLY SCHOOL MATERIALS, AND ANSWERING THIS QUESTION: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A AUTHOR AND HIS CREATIVE WORK BECOME PART OF A PEDAGOGICAL DEVICE, BEING SUBJECTED TO AN EDUCATIONAL LOGIC IN A CULTURAL FIELD SUCH AS SCHOOL?
