    Principalul obiectiv al proiectului constă în crearea unui nucleu de cercetare competitiv internațional în cadrul Universitatii POLITEHNICA din București (UPB) în domeniul producerii de biocombustibili și energie verde pe baza expertizei de cercetare dezvoltate în SUA, cu acces direct la instalații și tehnologii de ultimă generație care va constitui baza viitoarelor cariere ale tinerilor cercetători. Conceptul general pentru activitățile și obiectivele proiectului este ilustrat în Figura 1 de mai jos. Proiectul integrează strâns trei componente majore, detaliate în următoarele paragrafe, care sunt strâns legate, în scopul de a dezvolta cu succes capitalului uman și platformele fizice necesare pentru sustenabilitatea pe termen lung a proiectului dincolo de perioada de finanțare.     The main objective of the project is to create an international competitive research core within the POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest (UPB) in the field of biofuel and green energy production based on research expertise developed in the USA, with direct access to state-of-the-art installations and technologies that will form the basis of the future careers of young researchers. The general concept for the project activities and objectives is illustrated in Figure 1 below. The project closely integrates three major components, detailed in the following paragraphs, which are closely linked, in order to successfully develop the human capital and physical platforms needed for the long-term sustainability of the project beyond the funding period.
