    Obiectivul principal al proiectului vizează întărirea şi diversificarea interacţiunii Universităţii Tehnice din Cluj-Napoca cu mediul de afaceri, regional şi naţional, într-un domeniu strategic la nivel naţional şi european, domeniul Transportului inteligent, ecologic şi integrat, prin valorificarea potenţialului infrastructurilor CDI dezvoltate/modernizate în UTCN în perioada 2007-2013. Intensificarea colaborării UTCN cu actori din mediul antreprenorial, va contribui la creşterea performanţei acestora prin transfer de tehnologie şi cunoştinţe în cadrul unor programe de sprijin personalizat specializat şi/sau prin programe de cercetare colaborativă care să răspundă nevoilor intreprinderilor partenere. Proiectul răspunde astfel obiectivelor generale ale Strategiei naţionale de cercetare–inovare 2014-2020, în principal celui de creştere a competitivităţii economiei româneşti prin inovare. URBIVEL se aliniază obiectivelor specifice ale aceleiaşi Strategii susţinând accesul sectorului privat la infrastructurile publice de cercetare, respectiv la activităţi de cercetare colaborativă pentru crearea unui mediu stimulativ pentru iniţiativa acestuia. Mai mult decât atât, prin dezvoltarea de tehnologii avansate pentru vehicule electrice urbane inteligente proiectul susţine specializările inteligente în domeniile/subdomeniile Echipamente de transport/ Noi generații de vehicule şi tehnologii ecologice şi eficiente energetic, Materiale/ Materiale pentru dezvoltarea infrastructurii, construcțiilor și mijloacelor de transport, respectiv Oraşul inteligent.     The main objective of the project is to strengthen and diversify the interaction of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca with the business, regional and national environment, in a strategic area at national and European level, the field of Intelligent, Green and Integrated Transport, by capitalising on the potential of RDI infrastructures developed/upgraded in UTCN in the period 2007-2013. Enhancing UTCN collaboration with entrepreneurial actors will contribute to increasing their performance through technology and knowledge transfer in specialised personalised support programmes and/or collaborative research programmes that meet the needs of partner enterprises. The project thus responds to the general objectives of the National Research and Innovation Strategy 2014-2020, mainly to increase the competitiveness of the Romanian economy through innovation. URBIVEL aligns itself with the specific objectives of the same Strategy by supporting the access of the private sector to public research infrastructures and to collaborative research activities to create an enabling environment for its initiative. Moreover, through the development of advanced technologies for smart urban electric vehicles, the project supports smart specialisations in the fields/sub-areas of Transport Equipment/New Generations of Clean and Energy-efficient Vehicles and Technologies, Materials/Materials for Infrastructure Development, Construction and Transportation, and Smart City.
