The two cross-border coasts (Tuscan and Ligurian on one side and the PACA region on the other) host the world’s most famous nautical and yachting sector. Those of Italy are central to the naval and maritime industries and their complex and widespread supply chain, while the Côte d'Azur boasts world-class port services and hospitality. 74% of the world’s thousand large international yachts for charter carry out their operations in the Mediterranean, 59% in the Tyrrhenian area. However, the Italian and French onboard professional figures are highly underrepresented compared to their British and American colleagues, although studies show that crews are developing new priorities and needs that deserve the utmost consideration. Indeed, their spending capacity is around € 3.6 billion worldwide, for travel, homes, food and other goods. Therefore, the project aims for greater opportunities to be found in jobs at sea, especially onboard yachting, by setting up and implementing a pilot mobility training programme with integrated cross-border modules of training excellence. Training shared between companies and technical/professional institutes will enhance onboard nautical professional profiles with innovative figures such as onboard chefs, stewards and engineers, which will complement business demand and support a priority chain of our cross-border areas.
