There is a need to develop a regional approach to ensure continued adult education programs within the Stockholm region. The education has different roles and functions, among other things for employment and growth in the region. Adult education has different roles and functions, including employment and growth in the region. Adult education is also one of the municipalities' most important integration tools. There is futhermore an increased demand for regional actors and municipalities to cooperate with more active approach to labor market needs. The County Administrative Board of Stockholm, Storsthlm (former Kommunförbundet Stockholms län), the Swedish Employment Service and the City of Stockholm applied, in 2017, for a project to improve the supply of skills in adult education in the county. From this application was a partnership formed consisting of the above and Stockholms läns landsting. At the startup of the project the County Administrative Board of Stockholm was the owner as responsible for Regional Development. When Stockholms läns landsting became Region Stockholm they took over the responsibility of Regional Development and the ownership of the project and the County Administrative Board left the partnership. The project is working with vocational education, Sfi / Sfx and employment services training programs. The project has the ambition to create a coherent process for adult education and labor market. The project will develop methods, strategies and practices at a regional level to meet the Stockholm region's short and long-term skills supply. The project will create a better interaction between the labor market needs and the education system. In order to develop adult education in the region, regional actors need to find ways to reach a consensus on wich methods needs to be developed, but also how they will be executed. The aim for Kompetensarena Stockholm is to be an important part of the regular regional demands for competence at the Labour market. (Swedish)
