Lääne-Virumaa kuus kohalikku omavalitsust (Viru-Nigula, Rakvere, Haljala, Tapa, Vinni ja Väike-Maarja vallad) viivad koostöös läbi liikuvusuuringu. Eesmärk on uuringu tulemusel saada praktiliselt rakendatavad sisendid hetkel koostatavatesse üldplaneeringutesse, sh otstarbekamale transpordikorraldusele, elanikkonna kahanemise tõkestamisele, hajaasustusest teenuste koondamisele, liikumisvõimaluste piiratusele ning liikumisvõrgustiku ja -toimemudelite paremaks optimeerimiseks.
