In other words, it is a question of building fully submerged wave power plants (a few MW). The Guadeloupé archipelago is a group of islands whose main sources of electricity generation are currently dependent on imported fossil fuels (heavy fuel, kerosene, coal) (OREC...)

The project concerns the evaluation of the performance of a submerged (electric) energy production demonstrator whose objective is to determine its relevance (CAPEX/MW, OPEX/MW). In other words, it is a question of building fully submerged wave power plants (a few MW). The Guadeloupé archipelago is a group of islands whose main sources of electricity generation are currently dependent on imported fossil fuels (heavy fuel, kerosene, coal) (OREC Guadeloupe 2019). Electricity production accounts for only 18 % of the primary energy consumed by the archipelago, and the share of totally decarbonised renewable energy (wind, photovoltaic, hydro, geothermal, etc.) represents only 6.1 % of primary energy consumption.
