IN THIS PROJECT, WE PROPOSE A PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL (INORGANIC AND ORGANIC) AND SOURCE CONTRIBUTION STUDY OF ATMOSPHERIC AEROSOL (FINE TO SUBMICRON SIZE) IN COMPLEX INDUSTRIAL ZONES. FOR THIS PURPOSE, TWO MONITORING STATIONS OF THE ANDALUSIAN AIR QUALITY NETWORK (LA RABIDA AND PUENTE MAYORGA) HAVE BEEN CHOSEN IN RELATION TO TWO OF THE MOST IMPORTANT INDUSTRIAL ESTATES OF SPAIN (HUELVA AND CAMPO DE GIBRALTAR). BOTH STATIONS DISPLAY STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR SAMPLING PM2.5 AND AUTOMATIC INSTRUMENTATION FOR MEASURING LEVELS OF POLLUTANT GASES, AND PM10, AND METEOROLOGICAL DATA._x000D_ ALTHOUGH A LONG TIME SERIES OF PM10 INORGANIC CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS IN PM10 HAVE BEEN CHARACTERIZED OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS IN THE STUDY AREA, THERE IS STILL A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE INDUSTRIAL ORIGIN OF FINE TO ULTRAFINE SIZE PARTICLES AND PARTICULARLY IN THEIR ORGANIC COMPONENTS._x000D_ A SYNCHRONOUS SAMPLING WILL BE CARRIED OUT THROUGH HIGH-VOLUME COLLECTORS WITH PM2.5 INLET DURING TWO YEARS (ONE FILTER EVERY 6 DAYS) IN THE TWO SAMPLING STATIONS, AS WELL AS DETERMINATION OF N (N1 + N2, RODRIGUEZ AND CUEVAS, 2007) AND BC THROUGH CPC (ULTRAFINE SIZE> 2.5 NM) AND MAAP (BC, BLACK CARBON) RESPECTIVELY. THE SAMPLES OF PM2.5 WILL BE CHARACTERIZED BY EXAMINING THEIR INORGANIC AND ORGANIC COMPOUNDS. _x000D_ WE ARE INTERESTED IN LOOKING FOR THE PRESENCE OF CHEMICAL TRACERS OF INDUSTRIAL ORIGIN IN THE SUBMICRON FRACTION USING CASCADE IMPACTORS (LPI) (13 SIZE RANGES BETWEEN 30NM AND 10 µM). STREAKER SAMPLING FOR PIXE ANALYSIS WILL BE SAMPLED SIMULTANEOUSLY. WE WILL PERFORM 4 INTENSIVE MONITORING CAMPAIGNS (2 X 2 YEARS) IN EVERY MONITORING STATION._x000D_ THE RESULTS WILL ALLOW US TO DEEP THE INDUSTRIAL SOURCES RELATED WITH N2 (SECONDARY) SOURCES, AND THEY WILL BE USED TO REFINE THE MODELS FOR SOURCE CONTRIBUTION TO SIZE RANGES OF PARTICLES IN COMPLEX INDUSTRIAL ESTATES AND TO IMPROVE PRECISION AND ACCURACY IN POLLUTANT DISPERSION MODELING (E.G. HYSPLIT-SPAIN)._x000D_ THE METHODOLOGY AND THE RESULTS DERIVED FROM THIS STUDY WILL SERVE MAINLY FOR A BETTER MANAGEMENT OF THE AIR QUALITY OF INDUSTRIALIZED AREAS AND WILL PROVIDE NEW DATABASES IN THE FUTURE FOR THE CORRELATION WITH EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS. PARA ELLO, SE UTILIZARAN DOS ESTACIONES DE MUESTREO (LA RABIDA Y PUENTE MAYORGA) DE LA RED DE CALIDAD DEL AIRE DE ANDALUCIA, SITUADAS EN DOS DE LOS POLIGONOS INDUSTRIALES MAS IMPORTANTES DE ESPAÑA (HUELVA Y CAMPO DE GIBRALTAR). LAS ESTACIONES POSEEN INSTRUMENTACION PARA EL MUESTREO DE PM2.5, NIVELES DE GASES CONTAMINANTES Y PM10, ADEMAS DE METEOROLOGIA. AUNQUE SE DISPONE EN LA ACTUALIDAD DE UNA SERIE TEMPORAL DE MAS DE 20 AÑOS DE COMPOSICION QUIMICA DE PM10 DE LAS AREAS DE ESTUDIO, AUN EXISTE UN VACIO DE CONOCIMIENTO SOBRE EL ORIGEN INDUSTRIAL DE LAS PARTICULAS FINAS A ULTRAFINAS Y SOBRE TODO EN LOS COMPONENTES ORGANICOS._x000D_ SE DESARROLLARA UN MUESTREO SINCRONICO A TRAVES DE CAPTADORES DE ALTO VOLUMEN CON CABEZAL DE PM2.5 DURANTE DOS AÑOS (UN FILTRO CADA 6 DIAS) EN AMBAS ESTACIONES, ASI COMO SE DETERMINARAN N (N1+N2, RODRIGUEZ Y CUEVAS, 2007) Y BC, A TRAVES DE CPC (ULTRAFINAS PARTICULAS SUPERIORES A 2.5 NM) Y MAAP (BLACK CARBON) RESPECTIVAMENTE. LAS MUESTRAS DE PM2.5 SERAN CARACTERIZADAS PARA COMPONENTES INORGANICOS Y ORGANICOS._x000D_ OTRO ASPECTO DE INTERES DEL ESTUDIO ES LA BUSQUEDA DE NUEVOS TRAZADORES QUIMICOS DE ORIGEN INDUSTRIAL EN LA FRACCION SUBMICRONICA UTILIZANDO IMPACTADORES EN CASCADA (LPI (13 RANGOS DE TAMAÑO ENTRE 30 NM Y 10 µM) Y MUESTREO CON STREAKER PARA ANALISIS DE PIXE.
