The book will include a critical edition, contrasting manuscripts, and a verse commentary in which to explore, among other things, the echoes of ancient poets in epigrams, the use of poetic vocabulary and logos, and the way in which they adapt to their new, Christian context. The general Introduction will refer to Gregory’s biographical data as well as the conditions under which he composed the epigrams on the death of his relatives and friendly persons and will examine issues of language, style, metrics, etc.The systematic study of Gregory’s poetic style and the way in which he combines the phraseology of ancient poetry with theology will come to interesting conclusions for this important author. The project intends to fill a bibliographic gap, since there is not yet a publication of the Eighth Book of Greek Anthology with detailed memo. (English)

(Greek)
