Hlavní části projektu je výstavba nové tramvajové trati v ulici Plotní a zároveň rekonstrukce úseku trati od křižovatky Nádražní - Křenová - Dornych. Cílem je zajistit lepší dopravní dostupnost jižní části Brna a lepšího napojení autobusového nádraží Zvonařka na kolejovou síť MHD v Brně. Projekt bude realizován jako součást většího projektu zaměřeného na celkovou revitalizaci přilehlého území (rekonstrukce inženýrských sítí a výstavba komunikací) připravovaného Statutárním městem Brnem.
