The subject of the project will be the implementation of R & D works aimed at developing: innovative product – gardening substrate based on wood fibre with reduced content of high peat, with the participation of components which are e.g. by-products of the current activity of the Applicant and Partners (e.g. wood fibre, lignite fractions). THE TECHNOLOGICAL ISSUE: •Development of the proportion of raw materials used as starting material for the production of wood fibre. •Examination of properties and performance of manufactured wood fibres and fibre-based substrates. • Physical and chemical analysis of wood fibre produced. • Based on the results of the fibre tests: a)to conduct studies assessing the growth of plants in the wood fibre variants obtained, b)development of fibre-based horticultural substrates in combination with other components • Obtaining better growth parameters of plants grown on wood fibre-based substrates in relation to commercially grown crops. Stage I – Developing the concept of wood fibre technology and horticultural substrates on its basis with specified quality parameters, carrying out laboratory tests and conducting technological tests on selected mixtures of substrate components in an environment similar to the real one (VI 2019 – VIII 2020). Stage II – Examination on an industrial scale of the durability of the optimal physico-chemical properties of a set of wood fibre-based substrate mixtures during their storage period in the form of semi-finished products – prisms and finished products – bags (IX 2020 – V 2021).     Przedmiotem projektu będzie realizacja prac B+R mających na celu opracowanie: innowacyjnego produktu - podłoża ogrodniczego na bazie włókna drzewnego o zmniejszonej zawartości torfu wysokiego, przy udziale komponentów będących np. produktami ubocznymi obecnej działalności Wnioskodawcy i Partnerów (m.in. włókno drzewne, frakcje węgla brunatnego). ZAGADNIENIE TECHNOLOGICZNE: •Opracowanie proporcji surowców stosowanych jako materiał wyjściowy do produkcji włókna drzewnego. •Badania właściwości i wydajności wytworzonych włókien drzewnych oraz podłoży na bazie włókna. •Analiza fizyko-chemiczna wytworzonego włókna drzewnego. •Na podstawie otrzymanych wyników badań włókna: a)przeprowadzenie badań oceniających wzrost roślin w uzyskanych wariantach włókna drzewnego, b)opracowanie składów podłoży ogrodniczych na bazie włókna drzewnego w połączeniu z innymi komponentami •Uzyskanie lepszych parametrów wzrostu roślin uprawianych na podłożach na bazie włókna drzewnego względem roślin uprawianych na podłożach komercyjnych. Etap I - Opracowanie koncepcji technologii wytworzenia włókna drzewnego i podłoży ogrodniczych na jego bazie o określonych parametrach jakościowych, przeprowadzenie badań laboratoryjnych oraz wykonanie prób technologicznych na wybranych mieszankach składników podłożowych w środowisku zbliżonym do rzeczywistego (VI 2019 - VIII 2020). Etap II - Badanie w skali przemysłowej trwałości utrzymania optymalnych właściwości fizyko-chemicznych zestawu mieszanek podłożowych na bazie włókna drzewnego podczas okresu ich składowania w formie półproduktów - pryzmy oraz produktów gotowych - worki (IX 2020 - V 2021).
