The main objective of the project is the design and synthesis of a new, high performance class of photoinitiators where the photoinitiator is referred to as a photoinitiator catalyst (PIC).This approach will allow creating new generation photoinitiator-catalysts which will not be used during the photopolymerization process; they will guarantee the catalytic process without the loss of efficiency during irradiation and progress of the photopolymerization; they will show perfect absorption properties adapted to modern light sources, e.g. UV-Vis-LED; importantly, they will display dual behavior through effective and efficient production in the process of initiation of the active centers such as radicals, cations or radical cations as suitable individuals initiating the photopolymerization processes; they will be dedicated to all the photopolymerization processes (cationic, free-radical, thiol-ene),as well as for controlled radical photopolymerization processes (CRP, photoATRP, PET-RAFT).
