EDF Optimal Solutions finances, designs, develops and operates a temperate water network that augments water from the Mediterranean Sea and serves the Alar Alar. This project has the particularity of simultaneously providing heat and air conditioning to buildings; the network consists of a soft water loop connecting the heat recovery room on the sea — located on the port of Marseille — to heat pumps installed in the basement of the buildings. Recovery of water from the sea, as well as the exchange of calories between offices, homes and shops, means that CO2 emissions are reduced by 80 % compared to a solution based on fossil fuels.
