Development of technology for applying innovative functional coatings
Property / summary

The aim of the project is to carry out research and development in the field of process innovation — a new way of producing packaging, as well as product innovation, in the form of a range of packaging with characteristics and properties not available among competitive solutions. The applicant intends to develop and demonstrate how to produce two types of packaging with applied functional coatings: Type 1: packaging with applied antimicrobial and anti-fog coating, directed to the market of fresh products, mainly vegetables and fruits, so-called fresh market. Achieving such a defined result will be an innovation on an international scale: none of the applicant’s competitors has this type of packaging on offer. Their use will allow the shelf life of the packaged products to be extended, thus contributing to reducing the waste of fresh food. In addition, thanks to the anti-fog properties, packaging will have an aesthetic appearance, maintaining transparency, crucial for the attractive presentation of packaged products. Type 2: monomaterial packaging with applied barrier coating, market-oriented for durable food, supplements, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and animal feed. This type of packaging will also be an innovation of international scope. Currently, none of CDM’s competitors have the technology to apply barrier coatings to mo-nomaterial packaging. The demonstration of packaging technology with functional coatings must ensure appropriate precision of coating application, as well as the integration of individual modules, allowing for the expected performance. Wnioskodawca zamierza opracować i zademonstrować sposób wytwarzania dwóch typów opakowań z nanoszonymi powłokami funkcjonalnymi:  Typ 1: opakowania z naniesioną powłoką antymikrobiologiczną i antyzamgleniową, kierowane na rynek produktów świeżych, przede wszystkim warzyw i owoców, tzw. fresh market. Demonstrator technologii produkcji opakowań z powłokami funkcjonalnymi musi zapewniać odpowiednią precyzję nanoszenia powłok, a także integrację poszczególnych modułów, umożliwiając uzyskanie oczekiwanej wydajności.
