RO-UA cross-border area has a rich multinational and multicultural history, including long and suffering history of the Jewish communities. Jewish heritage is reflected in the architecture and everyday life of Ivano-Frankivsk and Sighet, which were previously the most important Jewish centers in the Eastern Europe. However, sites on these territories related to Jewish history and culture are not fully understood as values of European and local national heritage. The project aims to improve the competitiveness at the border of the European Union in the area of Ivano- Frankivsk (UA) and Sighet (RO) on the principles of cooperation and good neighborhood through joint touristic capitalization of the multicultural heritage. The project activities will increase the awareness of residents and visitors on the multicultural heritage in the area and mutual tolerance through discovering, preserving and promoting the Jewish heritage as a significant part of local history. In framework of the project 2 new cross-border touristic products- Elie Wiesel Museum-Jewish Museum in Sighet and Synagogue in Ivano Frankivsk will be renovated and improved by using modern technologies. The promotion of the common tangible and intangible cultural heritage in by creating cross-border festivals, exchange tours, local site visits and other project activities will contribute to increasing the number of tourists that visit the cross-border region. The cross-border community – local authority, cultural institutions, NGOs working in the cultural and minorities fields, Jewish minority, members of the community, mass- media, economic agents in the hospitality business - will benefit from creating a modern and attractive touristic offer through the Jewish tour of Sighet and Ivano-Frankivsk.
