    The object of the project is to improve navigability on Danube river in the Calarasi – Silistra cross-border region by ensuring a certain conditions of people safety. This project is part of a big plan for development of the infrastructure and tourism of the Calarasi area. The approach of the project has as result on one hand the implementation of systematization interventions on the land, the landscape protection of the area, and on the other hand the protection and the efficiency of the investment. The main activity it’s represented by the improvement of the infrastructure on the both sides of the Danube river in order to maintain the navigability on the secondary arm of the Danube, especially during the summer when the water falls bellow the usual level, but during the winter as well. An improved navigable waterway will be marked, connecting by river, between Calarasi and Silistra by installing of beacons on 5 km inland waterway on the Borcea – secondary arm of Danube. It will be also created two river station, one for each side of the Danube and two boats of medium size, “the river buses”, will be purchase for passengers transportation. This improved waterway will contribute to the outputs indicators of the Priority Axis 1 – A well connected region by improvement of approximate 11 km from total length (12 km) of new or improved inland waterway which are going to be achieved. All the activities will be done in cooperation with two partners, with the Romanian partner – The Calarasi Municipality who is the owner of the land (the bank which will be improved is the property of the Calarasi Municipality) and with the Bulgarian partner who has the same objective, the necessity to facilitate the transportation of passengers by connecting the two borders. The estimate budget of the project will be approximate of 5.990.000 euro. (English)
