    Objective of the project "Enhancement cooperation for sustainable management of natural assets" is to increase cross-border cooperation of Pagėgiai and Punsk municipalities in order to find common solutions helping to reduce the impact of human activity in cross-border territory also in natural, cultural heritage and other attractive places, through the exchange of experience and lessons learned by both participating partners, thus increasing quality of public governance and increasing sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage in Pagėgiai and Punsk regions. Project idea was elaborated basing on the belief that responsibility for minimizing possible impact on the environment during the events, organized in historical, natural heritage or other attractive places, increase of sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage and coordinated management of natural assets lies with local authorities. During the project implementation period environmental management methodology will be prepared and tested in practice; competencies of specialists of participating municipalities will be increased; conditions for safer environment will be created also for future generations (environment has no borders; safe environment on one site of the border means safe on the other); social behavior in the field of environment and sustainable use of natural assets of local residents will be increased.
