The CBC region has great requisites for cultural tourism under the theme “Roman heritage”: large number of well-preserved Roman sites and objects, archeological research, investments in infrastructure, museums with valuable Roman collections. The local communities find a great sense of identity and pride in their Roman heritage. Work is underway to include a number of Roman sites in the cross-border region in UNESCO indicative list of world heritage. To fully develop and enhance this potential, it is necessary to take an integrated cross-border, strategic and cohesive approach, drawing on the best expertise and on the input of all stakeholders, integrating local ownership and sustainability. The Project’s objective is enhancement of the sustainable use of common cultural heritage within the CBC area through the development of an integrated culture heritage tourism product: Route “Roman frontier within the cross-border region Romania-Bulgaria”. Total project budget: 961,747.88 Euro. (English)
