Circular Plastic Economy in MidtSkandia
Property / summary

The pre-study will develop the prerequisites for carrying out a project that will: 1. Identify sources and flows of plastic in the BA area. 2. Map the knowledge and research situation as well as available competence in the BA area. 3. Develop a model to break the flow of plastic from sources to nature. 4. Develop materials and concepts for information, education and communication on how to break the flow. 5. Contribute to the implementation of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ environmental strategy regarding plastics in the BA area. 6. Incorporate environmental targets from national and international levels (NVV, NMR, EU, UN, etc) into the model set out in 2. above. 7. Contribute to the development and growth of plastic recycling, including commercially, as a result of the project. The reason why the project is important is clear: the oceans and coasts will soon be overflowing with plastic. If current developments continue, seas are estimated to consist of more plastic than fish by 2050. The pre-study, and by extension the main project, will help to break that development. (English)

2. (Swedish)
