The project concerns a Water System Monitoring, which will be applied in Limassol and Hersonisos. After reviewing the current infrastructure in pilot areas, all operators will equip or upgrade their water supply networks with appropriate sensing and leak detection sensors. The program's research entities, using their know-how and in cooperation with water services, will decide on the type of sensors but also on their optimum place of placement. The monitoring system will be based on a Geographical Information System which will record the pipeline network in detail. The description will include a geographical imprint of these but will be accompanied by meta-data. By taking real-time sensor information, the system will accurately reflect the location of the fault and its size. The project will also develop a mobile application that enriches the quantum of water services with modern technologies. Additionally, the application will provide augmented reality capabilities by depicting the subsoil around the detected leakage and various pipelines of both water and other services. The technical services of the Water Services will be able to accurately locate the location of the loss and respond directly, reducing the cost and time of repairs. (English)
