The Project improves the effectiveness of the primary health care system thus providing better health coverage to deprived communities decongesting hospitals service volumes. Development of cross-border mobile services, telemedicine infrastructure and other technology-oriented health care provision methods is in the base of the project development. Information added on 2021-02-10, regarding the mitigation of the effects of COVID-19 (the coronavirus pandemic that started in 2019) (English language only): SMART_MED project aims to improve the provision of healthcare services to the residents of the CB area by using telemedicine healthcare services as an innovative approach. The project's response to overcoming and reducing the spread of COVID-19 is to provide medical services to the population in remote areas of the municipal centres in BG and GR, allowing the population access to medical services without visiting hospitals and medical institutions where there is a risk of concentrated spread of COVID-19. The purchase of medical equipment (respirator, mobile X-ray and Multi-parameter patient monitors, software and mobile eye examination equipment) will secure the local hospital in Dimitrovgrad to deal with the COVID-19 crisis. The new fully equipped ISO BOX (container for examining patients, such as possible COVID-19 patients) will increase the capability of the Municipality of Paranesti to defend against the current and future pandemics. Finally, the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology will create video spots and social media campaigns to promote Health Policies. (English)
