    Common challenge: Life Sciences & Nutrition are important sectors for the FCE Interreg area with significant international growth potential but the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing uncertainty around the UK’s EU withdrawal are continuing to have an impact on many businesses. Ensuring that businesses in the FCE area can grow and thrive is essential to aid wider economic recovery. Innovation and internationalisation are proven ways to help businesses grow and this project will provide a programme of (virtual) assistance to firms operating in these sectors to tackle barriers faced and to facilitate access to new knowledge, technologies, contacts, partners and opportunities in the healthcare sector internationally to help firms to compete more effectively in international markets and increase export activity. Specific Objective & Long-term effect: This project aims to support 100 Life Sciences & nutrition SMEs & production sites from the FCE area to help them to become more innovative, to connect to companies and business opportunities in other countries and to overcome the barriers that they face with innovation and internationalisation. The long term benefits for SMEs will be increased knowledge, innovation capacity, international contacts and export sales potential. Main outputs1 programme of 13 online cross-border information & training webinars designed to support at least 100 Life Sciences & nutrition companies in the FCE area20 new products / services / processes designed and 20 produced by companies to adapt for international markets1 in-depth programme of support activities designed to help 50 companies to promote themselves digitally and participate virtually in 5 international trade shows and 6 bespoke matchmaking events Cross-Border Approach & Partnership The planned activities are all cross-border in nature and will bring companies together virtually from both sides of the Channel along with relevant experts and sector specialists. KCC will bring its experience of facilitating export-support initiatives to the project while Eurasanté, BSB & SEHTA will bring their specialist sector knowledge and connections. SEHTA & Eurasanté will use their expertise of running successful online events for Life Science & Health companies and IMPULS 2 will enable the partners to build on these in a cross-border scenario. What is new? The project has been developed in the context of the pandemic whereby the ’normal’ type of interventions - physical B2B matchmaking, trade missions and fairs are not currently possible, so IMPULS 2 will test a virtual approach to provide similar outcomes for companies in the FCE area. The partners are not aware of similar business support being offered elsewhere by other organisations such as DIT, Enterprise Europe Network etc (English)
