Due to globalisation and accelerated migration, today there is an increasing spread of communicable diseases around the world. A number of factors have been described against the background of the widespread spread of pathogens, only one of which is the already mentioned and blamed global warming. The facts show that, with the spread of human civilisation, technological inventions of the modern age and the benefits of the achievements introduced to improve the quality of life, there are many dangers. Human movement (e.g.: travel and migration) the acceleration of communicable diseases provides unlimited, almost unstoppable opportunities for the development of new epidemics. A significant proportion of emerging viral infections may be animal-derived diseases known as zoonoses (viral zoonoses). As these pathogens can also cause serious, sometimes life-threatening infections, work with them is particularly high-risk and therefore laboratory testing requires high-level biosafety laboratories (BSL). In the neighbouring European countries, the number and activity of research teams on viral zoonoses has increased significantly in recent years. National and cross-border research networks have been established primarily for disease detection and diagnostic development. Biosafety laboratories are currently classified into 4 groups (BSL-1-4), of which the highest BSL-4 category is limited to serious life-threatening viruses for which no targeted therapy or vaccination is available. There are currently several BSL-4 laboratories in Europe, of which only 3 (to the best of our knowledge) belong to universities and carry out actual basic and applied research. Other laboratories are mainly state epidemiological, diagnostic laboratory, animal health laboratory or profit-oriented and military laboratory unit. It can therefore be seen that the number of BSL-4 research laboratories across Europe is low, so these laboratories always work in close cooperation and in direct cooperation. With the development of the PTE-SzKK BSL-4-level laboratory, we could successfully connect to this narrow, concentrated international research circle. The developed laboratory would serve both basic and applied research projects. A number of research projects are progressing in parallel in the laboratory, one part of which is basic research, while the other part is targeted applied research. In both cases, it would be possible to make use of the improved laboratory capacity. Our laboratory is still active in cooperation with a number of national organisations, including the microbiological contingent of the Installable Rapid Diagnostic Laboratory (TGYDL) belonging to the Electronics, Logistics and Asset Management Zrt. (HM EI Zrt.) of the Ministry of Defence, as well as with the National Directorate General for Disaster Management of the Ministry of the Interior. As a result of the development, our laboratory wishes to connect to the ERINHA (European Research Infrastructure on Highly Pathogenic Agents) project. The ENIVD (European Network for Diagnostics of “Imported” Viral Diseases) project and the EURONET-P4 (The European Network of P4 Laboratories) network would be further connected. The novelty of the planned development and investment is that currently Hungary has only the university BSL-4 research laboratory included in the tender, so its maintenance and development is an important task. During the development we plan to purchase a mobile decontamination device, desktop ultracentrifuge and an immunofluorescent microscope unit. As part of the infrastructure development, we aim to develop the existing laboratory area, which involves the modernisation of the air-technical system and the decontamination units of the laboratory. Combined with the laboratory’s existing facilities, both instruments offer unique opportunities in both research and industrial applications. Starting and increasing the production capacity of domestic and international pharmaceutical companies can be of particular importance in company and industrial cooperation. On the other hand, as the laboratory is a unique university research unit in Hungary, it can perform important tasks in any industrial development where a high level of biosecurity is essential. Given the real danger of cross-continental epidemics, it is almost certain that the number of these researches and industrial developments (e.g. the production of diagnostic kitts, development of point-of-care tests for rapid diagnostics) will increase in the coming years and decades. Technical justification of the instruments to be obtained: 1. Mobile decontamination apparatus: in every BSL-4 laboratory, a mobile disinfection device is required, which can be used immediately in case of an emergency. These are the finished (English)

Mivel ezen kórokozók súlyos, olykor életveszélyes fertőzéseket is okozhatnak, a velük történő munka különösen nagy kockázattal jár, így a laboratóriumi vizsgálatokhoz magas szintű biológiai biztonsági laboratóriumok (BSL) szükségesek. A PTE-SzKK BSL-4 szintű laboratórium fejlesztésével ehhez a szűk, koncentrált nemzetközi kutatási körhöz tudnánk sikeresen kapcsolódni. Mindekét esetben lehetőség nyílna a fejlesztett laboratóriumi kapacitás kihasználására. Laboratóriumunk jelenleg is aktív együttműködéseket folytat számos nemzeti szervezettel, így a Honvédelmi Minisztérium Elektronikai, Logisztikai és Vagyonkezelő Zrt (HM EI Zrt.) kötelékébe tartozó Telepíthető Gyorsdiagnosztikai Laboratórium (TGYDL) mikrobiológiai kontingensével, valamint a Belügyminisztérium Országos Katasztrófavédelmi Főigazgatóságával. A fejlesztés eredményeként, laboratóriumunk kapcsolódni kíván az ERINHA (European Research Infrastructure on Highly Pathogenic Agents) projekthez, hálózathoz. További kapcsolódási lehetőség lenne az ENIVD (European Network for Diagnostics of "Imported" Viral Diseases) projekt, valamint az EURONET-P4 (The European Network of P4 Laboratories) hálózat is. Másfelől, mivel a laboratórium egyedülálló egyetemi kutatási egység hazánkban, fontos feladatokat láthat el minden olyan ipari fejlesztésben, ahol a magas biológiai biztonsági szint megléte elengedhetetlen. Látva a kontinenseken átnyúló járványok reális veszélyét, szinte biztosra vehető, hogy ezen kutatások és ipari fejlesztések (pl. diagnosztikai kittek gyártása, gyorsdiagnosztikai „point-of-care” tesztek fejlesztése) száma növekedni fog az elkövetkezendő években, évtizedekben. Beszerezni kívánt műszerek szakmai indoklása: 1. Mobil dekontamináló készülék: minden BSL-4-es laboratóriumban szükség van egy mobil fertőtlenítő készülékre, ami vészhelyzet esetén azonnal alkalmazható. Ezeket a kész (Hungarian)
