THE OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT IS TO PROPOSE AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TOWARDS THE REALISATION OF THE CONCEPT OF ‘ZERO EMISSION BUILDING’ THAT CONSIDERS THE BUILDING WITHIN ITS REFERENCE ENERGY SYSTEM. IN THIS SENSE, THE BUILDINGS, IN ADDITION TO ELIMINATING THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND REDUCING OPERATING COSTS FOR TENANTS, WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INCREASINGLY EFFICIENT NATIONAL ENERGY SYSTEMS (E.G. WITH GREATER PENETRATION OF RENEWABLE SOURCES). THIS MACRO-TARGET WILL BE ACHIEVED THROUGH THE FOLLOWING SUB-OBJECTIVES: SO-1: STUDY AND DESIGN OF INTEGRATED ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS IN BUILDINGS TO SUPPORT THE PRODUCTION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES (RES) IN ORDER TO MAXIMISE THEIR PENETRATION AND MINIMISE GRID PROBLEMS RELATED TO FLUCTUATION IN PRODUCTION AND DEMAND. EL OBJETIVO GENERAL DEL PROYECTO ES PROPONER UN ENFOQUE INTEGRADO PARA LA REALIZACIÓN DEL CONCEPTO DE «EDIFICIO DE CERO EMISIONES» QUE CONSIDERE EL EDIFICIO DENTRO DE SU SISTEMA ENERGÉTICO DE REFERENCIA. EN ESTE SENTIDO, LOS EDIFICIOS, ADEMÁS DE ELIMINAR EL IMPACTO AMBIENTAL LOCAL Y REDUCIR LOS COSTES OPERATIVOS DE LOS INQUILINOS, TAMBIÉN PODRÁN APOYAR EL DESARROLLO DE SISTEMAS ENERGÉTICOS NACIONALES CADA VEZ MÁS EFICIENTES (E.G. CON MAYOR PENETRACIÓN DE LAS FUENTES RENOVABLES).
