Solo- and microenterprises constitutes a growing share of the current jobs as well as new employment opportunities that are created in Eastern middle Sweden. Even so too few of these companies grow to become stronger enterprises and important employers in the region. A very small share of the companies that are started in Sweden create over 90% of the new jobs. The Eastern middle Sweden region has a challenge in improving the pre-conditions for growth in the small companies that have a clear growth potential Research shows that the really small companies are the most unstable and that most of these companies shut down within six years of the start. Bigger companies are more stable and are better at securing the situation on the employment market for the employees. Growth puts pressure on an enterprise's personnel, processes and controlsystems and in order to enable successful growth (i.e. growth with good profitability) these three areas need to develop within the organization. Inadequacies in competence, flaws in the companies' focus, structure and strategy, limited resources and not least a lack of will, courage and faith to grow the company are main causes that growth does not occur. Science parks and Incubators are the operators within the innovation system that have the best provisions to effectively aid solo- and microenterprises with growth potential to solve the aforementioned challenges. The science parks and incubators have a structural role as nodes and clusters with good contact nets to for example investors. They are at the same time a direct support system to the enterprises and their development as they provide coaching and different kinds of management systems and strategy help to the solo- and microenterprises on a daily basis. In Making space for Growth we help enterprises with a clear growth potential and their employees to create conditions for and to navigate a growth phase. This is done by competence development, motivational activities and increased networking. The project complements the European Regional Fund project Växtzon 1. Tillväxt sätter press på företagets personal, processer och kontrollsystem och för att möjliggöra framgångsrik tillväxt (dvs tillväxt med god lönsamhet) måste dessa tre områden utvecklas i företaget. In Making space for Growth we aim to have 200 participants. (Swedish)
