Puuhakekasojen itselämpenemisen hyödyntäminen hakkeen kuivauksessa ja laadunhallinnassa – HAIKUPuun käytön lisääntyessä erilaisten hienonnettujen jakeiden kuljetus ja varastointi lisääntyvät samalla. Varastoinnin yhteydessä tapahtuva laadun aleneminen ja biologinen hajoaminen ovat ei-toivottuja ilmiöitä, joista aiheutuu taloudellisia menetyksiä ja hiilipäästöjä. Kasojen sisällä tapahtuvien ilmiöiden parempi hallinta tarjoaa mahdollisuuksia kääntää vääjäämättä tapahtuvat prosessit hyödyksi. HAIKU-projektissa monitoroidaan ja mallinnetaan hakekasan lämpenemisprosessi ja tutkitaan sen hyödyntämistä kasan kuivauksessa. (Finnish)

Using the self-eathing of wood chips in the drying and quality management of wood chips — as the use of HAIKUPu increases, the transportation and storage of different chopped fractions is increased at the same time. Quality reduction and biodegradation during storage are undesirable phenomena causing economic losses and carbon emissions. Better management of phenomena occurring inside heaps offers opportunities to turn processes that are inevitable into use. The Haiku project monitors and models the wood chip warming process and explores its utilisation in pile drying. (English)
