The departmental scheme provides for the assessment of the needs and supply of GDVs and defines social actions (Articles 1 and 6 of the Besson Act 2). The Department coordinates the various working groups: schooling, health, housing, occupational integration, social support, prevention and security between local, departmental, regional and national actors. Social workers work with the public Travellers according to a sectorisation of distinct geographical areas (see action sheet). The socio-professional accompaniment of the GDVs intervenes in the reception areas and the small passage area. The method of intervention with families is proposed in 4 “cumulable” forms: * Home visits to approved reception areas, * Interviews conducted in an institutional setting, * Accompanyment to organisations and institutions, * Telephone link to families and partners. The mission of social workers is to provide comprehensive social support to the public from the GDV community and to bring access to common rights schemes in the fields of health, budget, occupational integration, schooling, housing and justice (principle of free membership). Since 2016, social workers have also been tasked with the unique RSA reference of people joining this social support. They also have a mediation role between the public and the administrations. In addition to individual support, the implementation of projects tailored to the needs of the public, in the form of collective actions, is part of the mission of social workers. Within the framework of the departmental scheme, social workers may be asked to participate in the reflection on the creation, rehabilitation and operation of the places of reception of GDVs.
