    Le référencement en insertion socioprofessionnelle est l'accompagnement des bénéficiaires du RSA dans leur parcours d'insertion sociale et professionnelle. Le référent aide en levant les freins sociaux rencontrés par les bénéficiaires de l'action. L'action se traduit par un soutien dans un cadre socioprofessionnel durant la durée du contrat d'engagement signé par le bénéficiaire. Lorsque le référent reçoit un document d'orientation lui demandant de réaliser l'accompagnement d'un bénéficiaire du RSA, il le convoque à un premier rendez- vous afin de faire un point sur sa situation et d'envisager les démarches à poursuivre en vue de l'insertion socioprofessionnelle. Ce rendez-vous est formalisé par un contrat d'engagement qui peut durer minimum 3 mois et maximum 12 mois. Durant ce contrat d'engagement, le référent est à la disposition du bénéficiaire pour tout renseignement avec entretien physique ou verbal. Le référent aide à la levée des freins socioprofessionnels grâce aux opérateurs du PDI, à Pôle Emploi, aux associations, aux antennes locales d'insertion et tout autre acteur social.
