    La création de la plate-forme EDMOS vise à permettre aux chercheurs et entreprises régionales d'accéder à une plate-forme d'évaluation des dispositifs médicaux dans le domaine de l'odontologie et de la stomatologie. Un dispositif médical doit être certifié avant sa commercialisation, et une telle certification suppose de mener en amont des tests biomécaniques, physico-chimiques ou de biocompatibilité. La création de la plate-forme de recherche EDMOS s'appuie ainsi sur les compétences de différentes équipes de recherche régionales, localisées au sein : du Laboratoire de Bio ingénierie des Nanosciences de la Faculté d'Odontologie de Montpellier, du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Montpellier et du C2MA de l'Ecole des Mines d'Alès.
