Understanding the local impacts of climate change on biodiversity is essential to guide environmental policies. Lack of knowledge at regional level has led to the development of a research programme “climate sentinels”. The New Aquitaine Region is a relevant study laboratory that offers both a sensitivity to climate change and a variety of natural ecosystems. From the territory, 20 species and groups of climate sentinel species have been developed. Around a Cistude Nature catalytic organisation, the programme is part of an action-research approach that brings together different types of actors: policy makers, naturalists, researchers and the general public.
