Głównym celem realizacji projektu jest: Poprawa jakości środowiska miejskiego uzyskana w wyniku rozwoju i odbudowy zieleni przyulicznej w Opolu. Realizacja celu ogólnego/głównego projektu możliwa będzie dzięki spełnieniu szeregu celów szczegółowych, do których należą: - rozwój terenów zieleni w mieście, - promowania miejskich systemów regeneracji i wymiany powietrza, - poprawa jakości życia mieszkańców Opola (dodatkowa ilość zieleni wpływa na polepszenie jakości powietrza atmosferycznego w mieście), - osłabienia zjawiska tzw. miejskiej wyspy ciepła, - poprawa możliwości przewietrzania miasta - uzupełniania zasobów wody podziemnej w drodze infiltracji - promowanie założeń zieleni opartych na rodzimych gatunkach i tworzących dogodne i atrakcyjne warunki dla rodzimych ptaków, owadów i drobnych ssaków, - zapewnieniu istniejącym drzewom właściwych warunków wegetacji i ochrony przed skutkami ruchu komunikacyjnego i zimowego utrzymania dróg, - wzrost atrakcyjności Opola, jako potencjalnego miejsca zamieszkania.
