THE FRACTURING OF GEOMETRIC MODELS IS A FIELD OF GRAPHIC INFORMATICS BOOMING, IN WHICH THERE ARE IMPORTANT WORKS BUT IS OPEN TO NEW RESEARCH, ESPECIALLY DUE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF PERFORMING A REALISTIC PHYSICAL SIMULATION IN DIFFERENT WAYS. THERE ARE STILL MANY CHALLENGES, ESPECIALLY IN RELATION TO THE VALIDATION OF THE MODELS OBTAINED AFTER THE FRACTURE, THE INCORPORATION OF PHYSICAL INFORMATION ABOUT GEOMETRIC MODELS, OR EVEN THEIR USE IN SIMULATIONS OR REAL CASES, AS CAN BE IN MEDICINE. IN THIS PROJECT THE BASIC RESEARCH RELATED TO THE GENERATION OF FRACTURES ON GEOMETRIC MODELS THAT REPRESENT HOSEA STRUCTURES IS PROPOSED. THIS POSES GREAT CHALLENGES AS REGARDS THE APPLICATION OF REAL FRACTURE PATTERNS ON GEOMETRIC MODELS AND THEIR SUBSEQUENT VALIDATION BOTH FROM THE CLINICAL POINT OF VIEW AND FROM THE GEOMETRIC POINT OF VIEW. CURRENTLY THERE IS NO EVIDENCE IN THE LITERATURE OF STUDIES THAT DEVELOP THESE CHALLENGES APPLIED TO BONY MODELS. THIS PROJECT AIMS TO DEVELOP NEW TECHNIQUES AND ALGORITHMS THAT SIMULATE THE FRACTURING OF BONE GEOMETRIC MODELS USING FRACTURE PATTERNS PREVIOUSLY OBTAINED BY MECHANICAL EXPERIMENTATION AND FINALLY INCORPORATE PHYSICAL ASPECTS ABOUT GEOMETRIC MODELS. THE RESULTS OBTAINED WILL BE VALIDATED IN THE OPINION OF EXPERTS AND EMPIRICALLY. FINALLY, A STUDY OF ITS INTEGRATION INTO OTHER SYSTEMS PLANNING, SUPPORT AND ANALYSIS OF INTERVENTIONS AND TRAUMATOLOGICAL TREATMENTS WILL BE CARRIED OUT, AT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL, SUCH AS THE PROTOTYPE SIMULATION OF COMPOSITION OF FRACTURES OBTAINED IN THE PROJECT TIN2011-25259. LA FRACTURACION DE MODELOS GEOMETRICOS ES UN CAMPO DE LA INFORMATICA GRAFICA EN AUGE, EN EL QUE EXISTEN TRABAJOS IMPORTANTES PERO QUE SE ENCUENTRA ABIERTO A NUEVA INVESTIGACION, DEBIDO SOBRE TODO A LA COMPLEJIDAD QUE REPRESENTA REALIZAR UNA SIMULACION FISICA REALISTA EN DIVERSOS SENTIDOS. EXISTEN AUN MUCHOS RETOS, SOBRE TODO EN RELACION A LA VALIDACION DE LOS MODELOS OBTENIDOS TRAS LA FRACTURA, A LA INCORPORACION DE INFORMACION FISICA SOBRE LOS MODELOS GEOMETRICOS, O INCLUSO A SU UTILIZACION EN SIMULACIONES O CASOS REALES, COMO PUEDE SER EN MEDICINA. EN ESTE PROYECTO SE PROPONE LA INVESTIGACION BASICA RELACIONADA CON LA GENERACION DE FRACTURAS SOBRE MODELOS GEOMETRICOS QUE REPRESENTAN ESTRUCTURAS OSEAS. ESTO SUPONE GRANDES RETOS EN CUANTO A LA APLICACION DE PATRONES DE FRACTURA REALES SOBRE MODELOS GEOMETRICOS Y SU POSTERIOR VALIDACION TANTO DESDE EL PUNTO DE VISTA CLINICO COMO DESDE EL PUNTO DE VISTA GEOMETRICO. ACTUALMENTE NO SE EVIDENCIAN EN LA LITERATURA TRABAJOS QUE DESARROLLEN ESTOS RETOS APLICADOS A MODELOS OSEOS. SE PRETENDE EN ESTE PROYECTO DESARROLLAR NUEVAS TECNICAS Y ALGORITMOS QUE SIMULEN LA FRACTURACION DE MODELOS GEOMETRICOS OSEOS UTILIZANDO PATRONES DE FRACTURA PREVIAMENTE OBTENIDOS POR EXPERIMENTACION MECANICA E INCORPORAR FINALMENTE ASPECTOS FISICOS SOBRE LOS MODELOS GEOMETRICOS. LOS RESULTADOS OBTENIDOS SERAN VALIDADOS A JUICIO DE EXPERTOS Y EMPIRICAMENTE. FINALMENTE SE LLEVARA A CABO UN ESTUDIO DE SU INTEGRACION EN OTROS SISTEMAS PLANIFICACION, APOYO Y ANALISIS DE INTERVENCIONES Y TRATAMIENTOS TRAUMATOLOGICOS, A NIVEL NACIONAL E INTERNACIONAL, TAL Y COMO EL PROTOTIPO DE SIMULACION DE COMPOSICION DE FRACTURAS OBTENIDO EN EL PROYECTO TIN2011-25259.
