Circulating exosomes play an important role in many cellular processes and in many pathologies, harboring molecules such as microRNAs that are very promising candidates for use as biomarkers. There are many papers on the role of miRNAs in the field of HIV-1 infection, showing that the altered expression of these molecules plays a fundamental role in the disease. However, very few studies have been conducted in HIV-1 infected patients with natural infection control in the absence of antiretroviral therapy (elite controllers), which represent a very low prevalence (1-5 %). This project will analyse the potential of circulating exosomes and microRNAs as biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of progression in elite controlling patients and their possible use as a therapeutic target. In addition, they will be associated with immunophenotypic parameters, innate and acquired immunity, and soluble cytokines. (English)

(Spanish)
