Obiectivul general al proiectului îl reprezintă promovarea mobilităţii urbane durabile prin crearea în Municipiul Lugoj a unui sistem de transport public eficient, ecologic şi modern, care să conducă la reducerea cantităţilor de CO2 şi emisii poluante deversate în atmosferă, reducerea numărului de autoturisme în trafic, creşterea numărului de persoane care utilizează transportul în comun cu impact asupra fluidizării traficului rutier. Acest obiectiv implica reducerea emisiilor de carbon și creșterea atractivității transportului public în comun, prin asigurarea de condiții superioare (vehicule moderne, cu podea joasă, 100% electrice cu zero emisii, mai rapide, mai puțin zgomotoase, cu facilități STI – sisteme tehnice inteligent), respectiv prin oferirea alternativelor de transport, descurajarea deplasărilor cu autoturismul personal și creșterea numărului de persoane care vor utiliza transportul public.
