The aim of the project is to contribute to the goals of the Biodiversity Convention and the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3) by assessing the effectiveness of mushroom blends (Phlebiopsis gigantea, Bjerkandera adusta and Sistotrema brinkmannii) against infection of the roots of Heterobasidion in tree strains. The project will lead to the development of an alternative to an existing, widely used product. The new preparation could ensure successful forestry practices, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring better adaptability of forest stands to climate change.The project sets specific objectives: 1. to compare the efficacy of Phlebiopsis gigantea strains of isolates from conventional pine and spruce; 2) assess the impact of the Bjerkander edusta and Sistotrema brinkmannii on the effectiveness of P. gigantea biocontrol for Heterobasidion spp. ; 3) develop technology for cultivation of mushroom species in sawdust and other substrates and develop a methodology for treating strains;4) broaden the awareness and knowledge of the target group. The project complies with the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS) priority area “Knowledge-intensive bioeconomy” and research promotes scientific and human capital development and creation of new knowledge, and it will be carried out in the field of research (NACE classification NACE code 72.19) and forestry (02.10, 02.20, 02.40). The total maturity level of the project results shall correspond to TRL4 – components validated in a laboratory environment. The antagonism of mushrooms against Heterobasidion will be investigated both in laboratory and in field conditions – in blocks and freshly sawn strains. The results of the project will provide new knowledge on the preparation of the analysed mushroom spor/mycelium suspensions, as well as mixtures of suspensions (in combination with P.gigantea) and the use of saprophytic mushrooms for the protection of newly sawn strains against root troupe. The work tasks put forward in the project:1) to analyse the soil of the seeds, S. adusta, S. brinkmannii, P. gigantea strains derived from pine and spruce – to produce the mycelium properties and growth rates of the conifer in coniferous wood.2) to analyse the effects of the B. adu, S. adu, S. brinkmanni for the long-term effects of the project, the germ of the skies and the interaction of P. gigantea in the sketch.3. to analyse the effects of B. bntmanni on the germin, P. gigante against the pice. and the efficacy of the shoe in the skies. for the interaction of the mixture in the germ.3. to analyse the effects of the B. bntmann, S. brinkii on the growth rate of the P. Projekta mērķis ir sniegt ieguldījumu Bioloģiskās daudzveidības Konvencijas un Latvijas Viedās specializācijas stratēģijas mērķos (RIS3), izvērtējot sēņu maisījuma (Phlebiopsis gigantea, Bjerkandera adusta un Sistotrema brinkmannii) efektivitāti pret sakņu piepes Heterobasidion infekciju skuju koku celmos. Projekta rezultātā tiks izstrādāta alternatīva jau esošam, plaši izmantotam produktam. Jaunais preparāts varētu nodrošināt veiksmīgu mežsaimniecisko praksi, tādā veidā samazinot radītās siltumnīcas efekta gāzu emisijas un nodrošinot labākas mežaudžu adaptācijas spējas klimata pārmaiņām.Projektā noteikti konkrēti mērķi: 1) salīdzināt no parastās priedes un egles iegūtu izolātu Phlebiopsis gigantea celmu efektivitāti; 2) novērtēt Bjerkandera adusta un Sistotrema brinkmannii ietekmi uz P. gigantea biokontroles efektivitāti attiecībā uz Heterobasidion spp.;3) izstrādāt tehnoloģiju sēņu sugu kultivēšanai zāģu skaidās un citos substrātos un attīstīt metodiku celmu apstrādei;4) paplašināt mērķa grupas informētību un zināšanas. Projekts atbilst Latvijas viedās specializācijas stratēģijas (RIS) prioritārā jomā “Zināšanu ietilpīga bioekonomika” un pētniecība veicina zinātniskā un cilvēkkapitāla attīstību un jaunu zināšanu radīšanu, un tas tiks veikts pētniecības jomā (NACE klasifikācija NACE kods 72.19) un mežsaimniecībā (02.10, 02.20, 02.40). Projekta rezultātu kopējais gatavības līmenis atbilst TRL4 – komponenti validēti laboratorijas vidē. Sēņu antagonisms pret Heterobasidion tiks pētīts gan laboratorijā, gan arī lauka apstākļos – bluķīšos un svaigi zāģētos celmos. Projekta rezultāti sniegs jaunas zināšanas par analizēto sēņu sporu/micēlija suspensiju, kā arī suspensiju maisījumu (kombinācijā ar P.gigantea) sagatavošanu un saprofītisko sēņu izmantošanu svaigi zāģētu celmu aizsardzībā pret sakņu trupi. Projektā izvirzītie darba uzdevumi:1) analizēt B. adusta, S. brinkmannii, P. gigantea celmus, kas iegūti no priedes un egles – to micēlija īpašības un augšanas ātrumus skuju koku koksnē;2) analizēt B. adusta, S. brinkmannii, P. gigantea mijiedarbību;3) analizēt B. adusta, S. brinkmannii ietekmi uz P. gigantea augšanas ātrumu Picea abies, Larix decidua, Larix x eurolepis un Pinus sylvestris koksnē;4) analizēt B. adusta, S. brinkmannii un P. gigantea suspensiju sajaukumus efektivitāti pret primāro Heterobasidion infekcijas lauka apstākļos;5) pilnveidot un optimizēt B. adusta, S. brinkmannii, P. gigantea suspensiju sajaukumu audzēšanas tehnoloģisko procesu zāģu skaidās un citos bioloģiskajos atkritumos, kā arī izstrādāt optimālāko stratēģiju celmu apstrādei ar sēņu suspensijām;6) izveidot ilgtermiņa lauka eksperimentu uz minerāliem bagātām un kūdras augsnēm, lai novērtētu atsevišķu Latvijas izcelsmes sēņu celmu maisījumu ietekmi uz Heterobasidion infecijas attīstību uz egļu stubriem un saknēm, tādējādi ierobežojot sekundāro infekciju;7) analizēt bioloģiskā preparāta sporu suspensiju ietekmi uz citu sēņu bioloģisko daudzveidību8) zinātniskā ziņošana un projekta rezultātu izplatīšana.Paredzams, ka projekta rezultāti uzlabos zināšanas par celmu apstrādi un attīstīs tehnoloģiju sēņu izolātu kultivēšanai zāģu skaidās un citos bioloģiskajos substrātos. Projekts veicinās tādu inovatīvu bioloģisko preparātu un celmu apstrādes metodes un instrumentus, kas ir piemēroti atkārtošanai, pārvešanai vai integrēšanai apsaimniekošanā hemiboreālā klimata reģionā. Iegūtie rezultāti : 1) samazinās zaudējumus meža nozarē, ko izraisa Heterobasidion spp. skuju koku mežos Eiropā un attiecīgi palielinātu mežu produktivitāti;2) sniegs informāciju par celmu apstrādes ietekmi uz celmu kolonizējošo sēņu bioloģisko daudzveidību.Projekta zinātniskos atzinumus apkopos 1 patentā, 5 zinātnisko publikāciju manuskriptos, prezentācijās vismaz 5 starptautiskās zinātniskās konferencēs un 3 semināros, kas organizēti projekta mērķa grupām. Projekta ietvaros ir paredzēti rūpnieciskie pētījumi. Projekts ir ar saimniecisko darbību saistīts projekts.Projekta kopējās izmaksas ir 466 294,49 €, ieskaitot atbalstu no ERAF 279 776,69 € (60%) un pretendenta līdzfinansējumu – 186 517,80 €.Projekta darbību īstenošana tiks uzsākta 2020.gada decembrī un tās tiks īstenotas 36 mēnešus līdz 2023.gada 30.novembrim. Projekta līgumu paredzēts noslēgt 2021. gada martā.
