The operation concerns the construction of part of the inland drainage network of Pirgetos which has not been built (approximately 1/3 of the network), as well as the entire internal network of Kranias. The settlement of Kranias and the unfinished part of Pyrgetos are deprived of a sewage system, and the sewage is drained into individual absorbing cesspools, while in some cases they are drained into adjacent streams and especially in the stream of Zigra ends at the Penios River. Thus, it is obvious that the current situation causes significant pollution in groundwater as well as in the waters of the streams and in areas which are environmentally sensitive (area delta River Penios). More specifically, excavations, landfills, road restorations, electromechanical and general operations required for the installation of 8,400 metres PVC DN 200 mm, 350 m polyethylene pressure pipes (PE) DN 110 mm/10 atm, 860 meters polyethylene pressure pipes (PE) DN 90 mm/10 atm, 300 visiting wells, the construction of 4 pumping stations and necessary synergies will be carried out. Η πράξη αφορά την κατασκευή τμήματος του εσωτερικού δικτύου αποχέτευσης της Τ.Κ. Πυργετού που δεν έχει κατασκευαστεί (περίπου το 1/3 του δικτύου), καθώς και ολόκληρου του εσωτερικού δικτύου Κρανιάς. Ο οικισμός Κρανιάς και το τμήμα του Πυργετού που δεν έχει ολοκληρωθεί, στερούνται αποχετευτικού συστήματος, και τα λύματα αποχετεύονται σε μεμονωμένους απορροφητικούς βόθρους, ενώ σε ορισμένες περιπτώσεις αποχετεύονται σε παρακείμενα ρέματα και ιδιαίτερα στο ρέμα της Ζήγρας του καταλήγει στον Πηνειό Ποταμό. Έτσι λοιπόν είναι φανερό ότι η υφιστάμενη κατάσταση προκαλεί σημαντική ρύπανση στα υπόγεια ύδατα, καθώς και στα ύδατα των ρεμάτων αλλά και σε περιοχές οι οποίες είναι περιβαλλοντικά ευαίσθητες (περιοχή Δέλτα Πηνειού Ποταμού). Πιο συγκεκριμένα θα πραγματοποιηθούν εκσκαφές, επιχώσεις, αποκαταστάσεις οδοστρωσίας, ηλεκτρομηχανολογικές και γενικά εργασίες που απαιτούνται για την τοποθέτηση 8.400 μέτρων αγωγών από PVC DN 200 mm, 350 μέτρων σωλήνων πιέσεως πολυαιθυλενίου (ΡΕ) DN 110 mm/10 atm, 860 μέτρων σωλήνων πιέσεως πολυαιθυλενίου (ΡΕ) DN 90 mm/10 atm, 300 φρεατίων επίσκεψης, την κατασκευή 4 αντλιοστασίων και των απαραίτητων συνοδών έργων.
