Projekt ma na celu rozbudowę DW209 na odcinku Borzytuchom – Bytów na długości 8 km. W ramach projektu zostanie uregulowana i poszerzona jezdnia drogi 209, a jej konstrukcja zostanie wzmocniona. Skorygowane zostaną łuki pionowe i poziome. Przebudowane zostaną skrzyżowania, zostaną wybudowane ciągi piesze i pieszo-rowerowe. Realizacja projektu spowoduje poprawę bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego, przyczyni się do zmniejszenia ilości kolizji i wypadków, usprawni ruch, poprawi komfort podróżowania drogą, skróci czas podróży oraz zwiększy mobilność społeczeństwa.
