The aim of the project is to create the first research and development centre located in north-western Poland, where research will be carried out in the field of industrial casting (including die casting and continuous casting) of non-ferrous metal alloys. The main tasks will be the creation of suitable non-ferrous alloys (Al, Mg, Zn, Cu) and composites on their warp, together with the technology of casting them for specific industrial purposes using secondary raw material (scrap). The Centre will become a key tool for FAM-TO to implement process innovations (e.g. new moulding methods) and product innovations (e.g. metal composites) in the foundry. Initially developed product or process innovations will aim to increase the competitiveness of the company not only on the domestic market but also on the European market, and in the further future increase the technological advancement of Polish foundries while at the same time introducing a circular economy. Celem projektu jest stworzenie pierwszego centrum badawczo-rozwojowego zlokalizowanego w północno-zachodniej Polsce, w którym będą prowadzone badania z zakresu odlewnictwa przemysłowego (m.in. odlewnictwo ciśnieniowe i ciągłe) stopów metali nieżelaznych. Do głównych zadań będzie należło tworzenie odpowiednich stopów metali nieżelaznych (Al, Mg, Zn, Cu) oraz kompozytów na ich osnowie wraz z technologią ich odlewania do konkretnych celów przemyslowych przy wykorzystaniu surowca wtórnego (złomu). Centrum stanie się kluczowym narzędziem firmy FAM-TO w dążeniu do wdrażania w odlewnictwie innowacji procesowych (np. nowe metody formowania) i produktowych (np. kompozyty metalowe). Wstępnie opracowane innowacje produktowe lub procesowe będa miały za zadanie zwiększyć konkurencyjność firmy nie tylko na rynku krajowych, ale też europejskim, a w dalszej przyszłości zwiększyć stopień zaawansowania technologicznego polskich odlewni przy jednoczesnym wprowadzeniu gospodarki obiegu zamkniętego.
