Long-term sustainable growth in the tourism industry in Swedish Lapland A long-term sustainable tourism industry requires viable and profitable companies with a clear competitiveness and here we want to provide the industry with three development programmes based on the demand from the companies in the tourism industry in Norrbotten and needs such as the Swedish Lapland visitor board stated as needs and that complement the efforts they make. The aim of the project is to continue to raise 13 entrepreneurs’ insight and competence and highlight design as an important tool for increased competition and growth through the development programme Tourist Facilities Form and Function (TUFF), now with additional focus on sustainability and individual coaching with their own work on the design programme. In addition, a total of 16 entrepreneurs/leaders in the tourism industry in Swedish Lapland for further strategic expertise in economic sustainability and how we work successfully with gender equality with the help of the development programme Tillväxtakademin, which results in a development plan where there is also individual advice (Finans). The main reasons for implementing a new initiative aimed at our facilities in the region are: —Take advantage of the lessons generated by the development programme to improve the program’s method and content with additional focus on sustainability and individual advice. —Give those entrepreneurs who want to see an opportunity to strengthen themselves and develop the company under the prevailing pandemic and come out with new insights and knowledge as well as sustainable development plans after the crisis. —Further strategic and operational efforts to develop the network and create a knowledge transfer between those who have implemented the programme earlier and take advantage of its knowledge and experience to the new participants – see if the processes with its methods can be given to more people in the target group and after the final analysis see if it can work with in new markets -Swedish Lapland with its entrepreneurs expressed need for developing and providing more facilities in the region the opportunity for the insights and knowledge of the development programme Tourist Plants‘form and function and strengthens companies’ needs. The innovation is also to continue to develop the methodology and toolbox for the plant owners: — More time is spent on complementary cutting-edge expertise mainly in sustainability – More individual advice – supplement with a development programme based on the need for tools and skills for a long-term economic sustainable operation The first work package with the development programme tourist facilities form and function consists of seven workshops with 2-day boarding facilities at the participating facilities and a study trip to bring back inspiration from successful destination with its facilities. Each workshop deals with the elements colour, shape, lighting, choice of materials, design and environment as well as design and profiling – always based on a focus on sustainability (the economic, social and environmental) The second work package with two batches of the Swedish Academy of Growth consists of three internal meetings out at the participating companies around Norrbotten. The leaders with full insight into, and mandate over, corporate finances and business development get the chance to discuss challenges and solve tasks with others in the same situation and the group creates strong ties to each other, which promotes collaboration within the industry. The main focus is on business strategy, followed by how the chosen strategy and investments influence the work with customers and sales and how gender equality can affect a company’s development positively. Finally, individual advice is given when managers have a broad toolbox with methods, processes and ways of thinking how they can develop their business in order to get help to clearly link it to their own business and create change. In parallel, the participants themselves develop a development plan. (English)

(Swedish)
