Syftet med projektet är att bygga ortsammanbindande nät i glest befolkade delar av Gällivare kommun där marknadsmässiga förutsättningar för utbyggnad av bredbandsinfrastruktur saknas. Projektet ska ge kommunen möjlighet att bygga ett ortssammanbindande nät längs prioriterad sträcka under projekttiden. Projektets övergripande mål är att öka antalet små och medelstora företags möjligheter att kunna få tillgång till bredbandskoppling om minst 100 Mbit/s. Efter projekttidens slut ska Gällivare kommun äga och ansvara för investeringar i bredbandsnätet. Dessutom kommer fler företag och hushåll i glesbygdsområden i Gällivare kommun ges möjlighet att ansluta sig till ett snabbare bredbandsnät som i förlängningen är nödvändigt för en hållbar regional tillväxt.
