Idag finns innovationsslussar i samarbete med ALMI Mälaralen i Örebro län och Västmanlands län. Syftet med verksamheterna är att främja kommersialisering av innovationer inom hälso- och sjukvård. Det finns ett intresse i och förutsättningar för att arbeta med innovation i offentlig verksamhet bland relevanta aktörer i det omgivande innvationssystemet. Testbäddar finns etablerade i samarbete med Örebro och Västerås kommuner scienceparks, universitet och högskola. Men innovationsslussarna är i uppbyggnadsfas, mestadels internt orienterade och det finns ett stort behov av kapacitetsutbyggnad och resurstillförsel. Genom projektet vill man bygga upp sin kapacitet, hitta en tydlig struktur för hur idéer från företag ska hanteras samt utveckla effektiva gränssnitt gentemot det omgivande innovationssystemets aktörer.
