Overall objective The project will investigate and investigate the prerequisites for an implementation project with the aim of strengthening competitiveness and innovation activities among small and medium-sized wood producers in Norrbotten and Västerbotten. Project objectives The results of the preliminary study will provide the basis for decision-making if there is reason to proceed with the construction of a Collaborative Competence Center in northern Sweden, where the development of innovative and interdisciplinary collaboration between industry, academia and civil society will take place. Construction is planned to take place between 2017 and 2019. Subgoals The pilot study will focus on creating a network of small and medium-sized companies connected to LTU. The project group will visit representatives of the companies to identify the needs and include these in the project plan for the next three-year project. The project will continue to work with the industry networks they already had meetings with, and will investigate how to contribute to increasing the proportion of women and people with foreign backgrounds in the wood companies in the region. Övergripande mål Projektet ska undersöka och utreda förutsättningarna för ett genomförandeprojekt i syfte att stärka konkurrenskraften och innovationsverksamheten bland små och medelstora träproducenter i Norrbotten och Västerbotten. Projektmål Resultatet av förstudien kommer att utgöra beslutsunderlaget för om det finns anledning att gå vidare med uppbyggnaden av ett Collaborative Competence Center i norra Sverige, där utveckling av innovativa och tvärvetenskapliga samarbetet mellan industri, akademi och det civila samhället ska ske. Uppbyggnationen är tänkt att genomföras mellan 2017-2019. Delmål Förstudien kommer fokusera på att skapa ett nätverk av små och medelstora företag knutna till LTU. Projektgruppen kommer att besöka representanter för företagen för att identifiera vilka behov som finns och inkludera dessa i projektplanen för det kommande treåriga projektet. Projektet kommer att arbeta vidare med de branschnätverk de redan haft möten med samt undersöka hur man kan bidra till att öka andelen kvinnor och personer med utländsk bakgrund i träföretagen i regionen.
