Przedmiotem projektu jest modernizacja linii kolejowej nr 1 Warszawa – Łódź na odcinku Warszawa Zachodnia – Miedniewice (Skierniewice) od km 3,900 do km 61,350. Celem głównym projektu jest skrócenie czasu podróży na odcinku linii nr 1 Warszawa Zachodnia – Miedniewice (Skierniewice) od km 3,900 do km 61,350, co osiągnięte zostanie poprzez przebudowę linii kolejowej i dostosowanie parametrów geometrii torów oraz wyposażenia linii do prędkości 160 km/h dla pociągów pasażerskich oraz 120 km/h dla pociągów towarowych o maksymalnym nacisku 22,5 t/oś. Realizacja projektu została podzielona na dwie fazy: • FAZA I - roboty/usługi planowane do wykonania w perspektywie UE 2007-2013. • FAZA II - roboty/usługi planowane do wykonania w perspektywie UE 2014-2020 Odcinek objęty Projektem położony jest na obszarze dwóch województw: mazowieckiego i łódzkiego, w obrębie których krzyżują się główne samochodowe i kolejowe ciągi komunikacyjne kraju. Linia kolejowa nr 1 objęta II etapem modernizacji – Lot A przebiega przez powiaty: warszawski, pruszkowski, grodziski, skierniewicki. (Polish)
