Celem projektu jest zwiększenie możliwości przyłączenia źródeł wytwarzania energii elektrycznej OZE bez jednoczesnego obniżania parametrów dostarczanej energii oraz przy minimalizowaniu ryzyka wystąpienia awarii i przerw w dostawie energii (zniesione zostaną istotne bariery dla rozwoju energetyki odnawialnej). W wyniku realizacji projektu zwiększy się możliwość przyłączenia wytwórców energii elektrycznej z OZE. Ponadto, poprawie ulegną warunki zasilania odbiorców objętych zasięgiem oddziaływania stacji. Cel bezpośredni, a tym samym projekt, jest zgodny z celami Programu Operacyjnego, osi priorytetowej oraz działania i poddziałania 1.1.2 POIiŚ. Projekt obejmuje swoim zakresem budowę nowej stacji elektroenergetycznej GPZ Skwierzyna II 110/15 kV składającej się z rozdzielni 110 kV i rozdzielnicy 15 kV. Stacja stanowi element sieci dystrybucyjnej na napięciu 110 kV, na której odbywa się transformacja energii elektrycznej na napięcie 15 kV wraz z linią zasilającą 110 kV oraz wyprowadzeniami 15 kV.
