The implementation of the project through industrial research and development will allow the development of an innovative product in the form of an MU device, which will replace tens of kilometres of copper cables at the power station with fewer fibre optics and increase the safety of the power system by increasing the reaction rate of control and distribution devices, ensuring their continuous and reliable operation. Projekt przewiduje stworzenie innowacyjnego produktu, tj. Merging Unit (MU) – autonomicznego urządzenia stanowiącego węzeł sterujący szyny procesowej, które zdolne jest przetwarzać sygnały analogowe na cyfrowe i odwrotnie, w celu wdrożenia go na rynku operatorów sieci przesyłowej i dystrybucyjnej. Urządzenie to ma umożliwić współpracę istniejących już na obiektach urządzeń działających w technologii analogowej z aparaturą zabezpieczeniową, sterowniczą i kontrolną różnych producentów. Realizacja projektu poprzez przeprowadzenie badań przemysłowych i prac rozwojowych pozwoli na opracowanie innowacyjnego produktu w postaci urządzenia MU, którego zastosowanie spowoduje zastąpienie dziesiątek kilometrów kabli miedzianych na stacji elektroenergetycznej mniejszą liczbą światłowodów oraz zwiększenie bezpieczeństwa systemu elektroenergetycznego przez zwiększenie szybkości reakcji urządzeń sterujących i rozdzielczych, zapewnienie ich nieprzerwanego i niezawodnego działania.
