Reference number of the aid programme: SA.41471(2015/X) Purpose of public aid: Article 25 of EC Regulation No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain types of aid compatible with the internal market in the application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty (OJ L. I'm sorry. EU L 187/1 of 26.06.2014). The aim of the project is to further develop the OncoArendi clinical candidate OATD-02, the potently best-in-class arginase inhibitor, an enzyme that allows cancer cells to avoid the immune response of the body. OATD-02 was selected as a result of the work carried out in the project entitled: Development of new therapies based on the stimulation of the anticancer activity of the immune system; (STRATEGMED II). The expected final outcome of the project will be to demonstrate the safety and initial anticancer effects of OATD-02 in the first phase of clinical trials in patients, which will enable effective commercialisation of the project results. The project results will be implemented by selling a license to a pharmaceutical company in order to complete clinical trials and introduce the drug to the world market, including in the territory of the Republic of Poland. The treatment of cancer remains an unmet medical need for efficacy, adverse reactions and costs. The development of combination therapy in the field of anticancer immunotherapy is currently the most promising and fastest-growing therapeutic approach, and pharmaceutical companies are actively looking for molecules targeting new biological goals with new mechanisms of action. OATD-02 has the potential to be the best in its class (best-in-class) by effective blocking of arginase both inside and outside cells and an attractive pharmacokinetic profile indicating the possibility of oral administration once a day. Numer_referencyjny_programu_pomocowego: SA.41471(2015/X) Przeznaczenie_pomocy_publicznej: art. 25 rozporządzenia KE nr 651/2014 z dnia 17 czerwca 2014 r. uznające niektóre rodzaje pomocy za zgodne z rynkiem wewnętrznym w stosowaniu art. 107 i 108 Traktatu (Dz. Urz. UE L 187/1 z 26.06.2014). Oczekiwanym końcowym rezultatem projektu będzie wykazanie bezpieczeństwa i wstępnego działania przeciwnowotworowego OATD-02 w pierwszej fazie badań klinicznych z udziałem pacjentów, co umożliwi skuteczną komercjalizację wyników projektu. Wdrożenie wyników projektu nastąpi poprzez sprzedaż licencji firmie farmaceutycznej w celu ukończenia badań klinicznych i wprowadzenia leku na rynek światowy, w tym na terytorium RP. Leczenie nowotworów nadal pozostaje niezaspokojoną potrzebą medyczną w zakresie skuteczności, działań niepożądanych i kosztów. Rozwój terapii skojarzonych w obszarze immunoterapii przeciwnowotworowej stanowi obecnie najbardziej obiecujące i najszybciej rozwijające się podejście terapeutyczne, a firmy farmaceutyczne aktywnie poszukują cząsteczek celujących w nowe cele biologiczne, o nowych mechanizmach działania.
